PREREQUISITE TRAINING:  Basic firearms safety training

OVERVIEW:

This course includes classroom and range time learning to shoot and manipulate pump and semi-auto shotguns using drills and excercises employed by law enforcement and other professionals. Students learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling, firearms parts and operation.  Students learn the means and methods of keeping the firearm loaded in static and moving scnarios.  Additionally, carry techniques, sling use, firearms choice will be discussed at length. Ammunition, shooting fundamentals, dry-fire training (use of dummy rounds), range rules,  standing, kneeling, seated, prone positions, shooting on the move, and continued opportunities for skill development. The student will develop reactionary competence through simulated situations and demanding initiative based drills. Students will receive a course completion certificate.  This course requires about 8 hours on the range to complete.

PAYMENT:

Enrollment may be made online or upon receipt of the course fee of $225.00 mailed to PO Box 3956, Durango, CO 81302.  The check should be made payable to Wolverine School and received by the Monday prior to the course.  Should you subsequently decide to not participate you will be refunded 20% of the fee.  We also understand that life throws curve balls and your unavoidable conflicts will accommodated to the best of our ability.

Late registrations/payments MUST be arranged in advance---If your attendance is not nailed down the instructors may not be there!!!

Equipment Requirements 

  • 200 rounds of birdshot ammo
  • 25 rounds slug ammunition
  • A two point sling
  • A means of carrying extra ammunition
  • Belt pouches for magazines
  • Eye protection
  • Hearing protection(electronic is highly recommended)
  • Ball cap or other billed cap
  • Clothing appropriate for conditions
  • Knee/elbow pads optional 

Firearm and Ammo Requirements:

The weapon must be fully functional, have all factory-installed safety devices intact, and have no dangerous modifications.  Minimum age is 16.
