202? Schedule:

We have had no interest in this class to date.  As a "fix" to avoid the lack of a class of this sort, we offer as an alternative the ability to schedule such a class on an as-requested basis.

The Ladies Basic Pistol/CCW class will be available for you should you be able to gather a minimum of SIX students (more can be easily accommodated) for a Wednesday Thursday Saturday schedule per the outline below) in time for the required coordination to accomplished.

Class Fee:  $175.00

Location:  Durango, CO

Duration:  Two 3 1/2 hour evening sessions
One 1/2 day on the range

This is no concession to the more important of the two halves of the human race.  This is the exact full-bore class that we think is vital to the understanding of armed self-defense.  It provides the knowledge and skills (you will need to follow up with your own practice) you need to make your home, office, and vehicle a safer place.  _____________________________________________________________________________________________

OVERVIEW:

A course of firearms instruction that far exceeds the CCW requirements for the state of Colorado, this class is based on the NRA Course Personal Protection In The Home.  This NRA course was chosen because it deals with the very serious subject of using deadly force, and the physiological and psychological changes one encounters when faced with a deadly threat. Additionally it provides a most useful class book that will assist the student in making his environment (Home, Workplace, Vehicle) a safer place.  Any one who thinks they may at some time under who knows what circumstances use a firearm for defensive purposes, even though there is no intention to obtain or use a Concealed Carry Weapon permit will benefit greatly from this class.

There are no physical conditioning requirements and no previous experience with firearms is required for this course.  You will need your own firearm (we have loaners), ammunition and eye and hearing protection.  Call Tim with any questions in these regards.

PAYMENT:

Enrollment is upon receipt of the course donation, mailed to PO Box 3956 Durango, 81302, and received by the Monday prior to the course. Please make your check payable to E.T. Gwynn.  Should you subsequently decide not to participate a refund of 20% of the fee will be returned to you.  We fully understand the exigencies of daily living and will gladly work with you around your unavoidable schedule changes.  Cash payments must be arranged in advance.

GENERAL SCHEDULING/CLASS REQUIREMENTS:

When you contact Tim you will be forwarded the Student Letter for the particular course in which you are interested.

The Class meets on Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM. The class will be held at the Durango Gun Club located at 590 Florida Road next to Chapman Hill.  Range operations occur on Saturday at Red Dawn Range. Directions will be provided.

For the Wednesday class you will need your pistol with NO AMMUNITION.  All other materials will be provided.

For the Thursday class you will need loose fitting clothing since we will learn some weapons retention techniques that require physical exertion ONLY to the extent that your physical abilities allow.

Saturday range qualifications begin at 09:00AM.  You will need 150 rounds of ammunition for your pistol and hearing and eye protection (which will be discussed in class).

***Due to an increased interest in CCW, it may be necessary to schedule some willing students for a separate range day.  Or for an individual day if necessary.

Equipment Requirements:

  • Your Handgun - - we have several for loan if needed.  Guidance on Handgun selection is available
  • Your Ammunition - - inexpensive ammo in the correct caliber for your fierarm.  Guidance on practice ammo is available
  • Hearing protection
  • Eye protection
  • Dress for the Weather and expect the Worst
  • Sunscreen, Bug Juice for noseeums

WHAT WILL BE YOURS:

Your reward is a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of the use of deadly force in self defense. You will also receive an NRA Certificate that testifies to the Sheriff that you are a safe gun handler when presented to the Sheriff’s Office with your CCW application.  The Sheriff's Office will require additional fees to apply for the CCW permit that are NOT included in the course fee.

The course subscription must be at least six students (we have yet to cancel a class).  Failing this the class will be rescheduled as soon as practical.
